Guided Walks - Botanical Garden
|
|
The horticulturist and Völva, Nordic Seer Bryndis Fjóla, has always sensed nature in more dimensions than the
eye can see. She has been aware of elves and the hidden people for as long as she can remember. Bryndís Fjóla offers a one-and-a-half-hour guided walk in the magical Botanical Garden of Akureyri. The Hidden Trail stroll is a gentle and unhurried walk through the garden. Bryndis Fjóla shares what she senses in the landscape and tells stories of the huldufólk and elves who dwell there. |
|
Stories of elves often speak of their helpfulness toward humans, and many are believed to have saved lives both on land and at sea. Because much of Iceland remains wild and untouched, the dwellings of hidden people, elves, dragons, mermaids, and trolls exist almost everywhere. During the walk, the elves and huldufólk of the Botanical Garden may wish to share a small secret with you, revealed through a short moment of meditation.
You may experience a unique spiritual feeling that is characteristic of Icelandic nature, an encounter that awakens fascination with its supernatural power and healing presence. Bryndís Fjóla is happy to answer any questions about elves and huldufólk during and after the walk. |
|
Over the years, Bryndís Fjóla has often received guidance from elves and huldufólk as she introduces the land, and they have accompanied her in creating memorable experiences for others. These encounters have frequently inspired guests to become more environmentally conscious.
Many visitors have stayed in contact with Bryndís Fjóla, sometimes leading to special projects abroad, where she has guided them through their own favorite green spaces. Upon special request, Bryndís Fjóla can join you on a personal journey to a chosen place inIceland. She will share what she senses from the land, its stories, cultural heritage, and the quiet messages of nature. The aim is that you return home with a deeper or entirely new relationship with nature. |

These runes you will find in the Botanical Garden, chosen by the huldufolk
|
When Bryndís Fjóla in 2020 spoke with the elves and hidden people in the Botanical Garden in Akureyri about creating an overview map, showing where their habitats were about, and what their roles are. The idea came up by writing next to drawings of their names using our alphabet. However, the hidden people chose not to use that — they wanted to use runes that could reflect what they stand for and their individual personalities.

PiaThis is the rune for huldkona Pia.
She came all the way from Norway in year 1985, traveling with the seed of the Siberian apple tree - That the Botanical Garden in Akureyri had orderd from the The Norwegian University of Life Sciences. Pia is a great healer and is always home by her tree. |
HeimirThe huldumaður Heimir chose this rune himself. He is the last farmer who lives on the land of the Botanical Garden.
He has a few sheep, and they are usually on his grassy field and around him. Heimir lives by the principle of contentment, and his energy allows us to feel what it is like to be content. |
LovísaThis is the run of the huldukona Lovísa. She is always very active. She is a gardener and groves plants and herbs for healing. She always takes the time to listen to the guests who visit her while she is working in the garden, and gives her guests the energy and courage that could help them to change direction in life, or the support to help them get through difficult times.
